Dear Clients, LONG WEEKEND SURCHARGES - BILLED BY TRUCKING COMPANIES Monday 8th June sees a public holiday in NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory of the Kings Birthday. It's become common for most trucking companies around Australia to bill a "LONG WEEKEND SURCHARGE" otherwise they simply don't have drivers turn up for their shifts on the Public Holiday. These amounts range from $250 - $400 per container pending the carrier and state. Should Transways be picking up your containers over the long weekend, please do expect to see a Long Weekend Surcharge. Where possible we do our best to work with Transport to avoid, but due to the scheduling of "BULK RUNS" being pushed onto truckers, it can be unavoidable should we wish to avoid wharf storage and not chew into container free days (container detention).
