Dear Clients, EASTER LONG WEEKEND LONG WEEKEND SURCHARGES - BILLED BY TRUCKING COMPANIES We are fast approaching the Easter Long weekend so this is a timely reminder that this period always places additional strain on the local trucking market as vessels continue to arrive and discharge containers whilst most importers and their warehouses are closed. To manage this, most trucking companies around Australia are now billing a "LONG WEEKEND SURCHARGE" to recover overtime wages paid to drivers, otherwise they simply don't have drivers turn up for their shifts on the Public Holiday. The amounts typically range from $200 - $400 per container plus the prevailing Emergency Fuel Surcharge. Should Transways be picking up your containers over the long weekend, please do expect to see a Long Weekend Surcharge. Where possible, we do our best to work with Transport providers to avoid this surcharge however due to the scheduling of "BULK RUNS" being pushed onto truckers, it can at times be unavoidable should we wish to avoid wharf storage and not chew into container free days (container detention). At this time, we would also like to encourage you to obtain and send in your customs paperwork well in advance of ETA's over this period. The more notice we have of your shipment arriving the better the outcome will likely be.
