Dear Clients,
SUPER TYPHOON RAGASA
Super typhoon Ragasa is expected to make landfall along the coast from Huizhou in Guangdong to Wenchang in Hainan province between the early morning and afternoon on Wednesday 24th September. At that time, it is expected to be a strong typhoon or super typhoon with winds forecasted up to 270km/h, with significant rainfall.
Terminal operations in both Hong Kong (HIT & MTL), Shenzhen (Yantian & Shekou) and Guangzhou (Nansha) have all been suspended, at time of publication.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) as well as Shenzhen Airport (SZX) will suspend all passenger flights from 8pm (local time) tonight, TUE 23rd September. HKG have advised the shutdown is expected to last 36hours, SZX have advised "Flight operations will be gradually and orderly restored once safety can be assured".
Information we are receiving is indicating majority of business in the path of the Typhoon have already shut and only have limited staff working remotely on emails.
We expect these shutdowns to have an impact on the flow of freight for both AIR and SEA.
With Golden Week holidays commencing next week, the Typhon may impact the market with delays incurred, to trucking, customs, warehousing, shipping and airfreight.
Should you wish to discuss any of these points, please don't hesitate to reach out to your key contact @ Transways Logistics International.
