Dear Clients, CHINESE GOLDEN WEEK - 1st to 8th OCT This year, the official Golden Week Holiday will be from 1st - 8th October extending the break to 8 days due an overlap with the mid-Autum Festival. Most businesses and factories in China will close for the Golden Week holiday. Furthermore, a lot of factories will be running at reduced capacity in the week post the holiday as regional workers slowly come back into the main Cities. As importers rush to have goods finished for shipping in the weeks leading up to the shutdown, we expect to see already high ocean freight rates increase further as shipping lines serving the North Asia to Australia trade lanes grapple with capacity issues. We urge you to reach out to your Transways key contact to discuss any urgent shipments that you may have around the GOLDEN WEEK HOLIDAY so that we can start planning. Also, a friendly reminder to reach out in advance to your suppliers to obtain ALL customs, commercial & shipping documents. Each year we see cargo incur unnecessary storage charges due to late presentation documentation because it was issued incorrectly prior to China closing and customer can't get hold of their suppliers. Same applies for payment of goods to suppliers, please ensure to do so before banks in China close, so that TELEX releases are issued in advance.
