Dear Clients, We have received notification from several shipping lines that they are looking to apply a “GENERAL RATE INCREASE” (GRI) on the 1st AUGUST 2023. The increase is looking to be applied for cargo ex CHINA, HONG KONG, TAIWAN and KOREA into all Australian Ports. Thus far rate increases have not stuck and FCL ocean freight remains at levels well below historical data. It’s of our view that several ocean carriers will continue to advertise “GENERAL RATE INCREASES” over the coming months as they attempt to drive up freight rates to what they perceive to be appropriate levels to maintain services. As always, Transways will only be adjusting your pricing, should the “GRI” be applied by Ocean Carriers.
Additionally auxiliary charges such as physical inspection fee will also increase from the 1st JULY onwards. Kind regards,
