We all know of the issues empty container parks faced during the peak of 2020 with congestion and limited space. In an effort to alleviate this pressure on industry, coming into peak there has been additional empty park capacity developed. We do not foresee this eradicating the congestion issue, but it will ease to certain extent. This, however, does come at a cost and once again these costs flow down the supply chain to importers and exporters with notification of a $20.00 per container increase, to cover the additional capacity along with paperless gate-in technology being applied which is said to help in improving the average turnaround time for transport.
Transport companies have no alternative but to
pass these costs on with effective date of Monday 16th
