Transways Logistics International has received notification from Ocean carriers advising that a LOW SULPHUR SURCHARGE (LSS) is being introduced on all trade (IMPORT / EXPORT) that is moved via the ports of Ningbo and Shanghai.

This includes cargo that is moved from feeder ports such as Wuhan that call via Shanghai.

This announcement comes from the Chinese Regional Authorities in the Shanghai, Zhejiang and Jiangsu Provinces. Formal notices have been issued by these Provinces advising all vessels calling at the Province ports on or after 1st October 2018 are required to use fuel with a Sulphur content not exceeding 0.5%.

To date we have seen various figures applied by Ocean Carriers and different effective dates.

ANL -                USD  7.50 per 20' / USD15.00 per 40' effective from 15th NOV 2018

MSC -               USD10.00 per 20' / USD20.00 per 40' effective from 1st DEC 2018

Transways will not be in a position to absorb these fees and will be passing them over to you at cost in your ocean rates as and when applied by the ocean carriers.
